Ann Wylie

Interim Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer

Ann Wylie joined the faculty of the University of Maryland in 1972 as an assistant professor in the Department of Agronomy in the College of Agriculture. In 1973, she became one of the founding faculty of the Department of Geology. She is a Distinguished Scholar Teacher, and currently holds the title Professor Emerita. Her research areas are economic geology and mineralogy, especially the relationship between mineral properties and human health.

Dr. Wylie held leadership positions in Geology and the College of Computer Mathematics and Natural Sciences before joining central administration as Associate Provost in 2000. Subsequently, she served as Assistant President and Chief of Staff, Interim Dean of the Graduate School, Vice President for Administration and Finance, Senior Vice President and Provost and Interim Vice President for Information Technology.  She was a founding member of the MPower Steering Committee. Dr. Wylie earned a BA from Wellesley College and a PhD from Columbia University. She was awarded the UMD Presidents Medal in 2014 at the end of the long string of positions.
