Workday Student

University of Maryland College Park will implement the Workday Student module as part of the second phase of the Elevate program. This transformation aligns with the university’s values of innovation and collaboration, moving from student homegrown systems such as SIS and SAR to a configurable, cloud-based student module. Our second phase of Elevate also brings our core people operating systems together, as Student joins Human Capital Management and Finance operations in one place, Workday.

The campus community can look forward to:

  • An inclusive and accessible user experience via self-service, 24/7 mobile access, and a user-friendly, intuitive interface.
  • Better management of data access and data integrity for successful communication and outreach.
  • Inclusivity by enabling students to better own and interact with their student profile.
  • A more efficient approach to cross-listing and co-locating courses across our departments.
  • Enhanced student academic journeys via dynamic integrated four year graduation plans.
  • Easily maintained Payment Precedence Groups, allowing for proper application of payments to appropriate charges.
  • Effortless visibility into all aspects of a student’s financial aid package for each academic period directly in Workday, for students and third parties granted access.

The Elevate Team is committed to transparency and engagement across the entire university on this initiative. The Student implementation will take place through Fall 2028 and will comprise of 5 milestones aligned with new system functionality. The first milestone in Summer 2027 will turn on components that support University of Maryland College Park’s  academic structure, curriculum management and admissions. By our third milestone in Spring of 2028, most of our faculty and students will be in the system as registration will occur in Workday for the first time. As the milestones follow the student lifecycle, the last milestone in Fall 2028 will turn on Graduation, Grading, Transcripts, and Refunds.

Workday Student will be designed and implemented with the entire University of Maryland College Park community in mind. Throughout Fall of 2024, we will be bringing together our project team leads. This includes Elevate Workday Student Functional Leads that are aligned with business units and DIT Analysts who will support the functional leads and provide connection points with the broader Elevate team. As the Architecture and Configuration phase commences, the team will grow with more experts on the Maryland side and consulting side.

The team looks forward to continuing to share information on this exciting transformation as it becomes available.
