Workday Student Program Update
How Can I Prepare for the First Workday Student Launch?
Next summer, Milestone 1 marks the first time Workday Student will be used at the University of Maryland, College Park. Workday Student will be introduced in phases from Summer 2027 through Fall 2028, with the first system launch occurring in August 2027. Functionality introduced as part of this milestone includes:
- Academic Foundation elements (e.g., academic calendars and programs of study)
- Curriculum Management to support scheduling of Fall 2028 course sections
The transition to Workday Student does not change academic calendars, policies, governance structures, approval paths, or timelines. The change is to the technology that supports these activities, not the business processes themselves.
Who Is Most Impacted
Milestone 1 primarily affects staff who support course scheduling. The staff most directly involved include:
- 350+ Department and College Scheduling Officers
- Office of the University Registrar (OUR)
- Human Resources teams supporting academic appointments and instructor eligibility
- Extended Studies (EXST)
How We're Preparing Campus
The Elevate team is preparing a series of activities designed to support stakeholder readiness and build confidence before, during, and after Milestone 1. Preparation will unfold in stages over the summer and fall of 2027:
