Troubleshoot Registration

This concept page describes the ways students can troubleshoot registration in Workday Student.

In Workday, students may encounter errors when registering. They can troubleshoot these issues using tools available in the system. Let’s review a few areas where students can troubleshoot registration


In Workday Student, students can use the Troubleshoot Registration task to review their eligibility to register for a course. After entering the academic period and course, the system displays key information to help determine eligibility, including:

  • Do I have an Active Record?
  • Is this within my Enrollment Window?
  • Do I have any holds on my account?
  • Am I eligible for this course?’
  • Do I have any duplicate registrations?
  • Can I register for any co-requisites?

Students can also view course-level criteria that affect registration eligibility, such as whether sections are published and whether the course is repeatable.

Find Course Sections

When a student attempts to register for a course section from the Find Course Sections report and is ineligible, a Troubleshoot button appears. Selecting this button initiates the Troubleshoot Registration task for the selected course section, as noted above. 

Saved Schedules

When a student attempts to register from a Saved Schedule, any unsuccessful registrations appear on a confirmation page, where the reasons for each issue are displayed.


Please note: Students may need to troubleshoot registration for a number of reasons, such as an invalid registration appointment or a hold on their account. 


Example:

Meet Bella.

Bella is attempting to register for BMGT 230. She searches for a section that fits her schedule in the Find Course Sections report. When she selects a section, the Troubleshoot button is displayed in place of the Register button.

When Bella selects the Troubleshoot button, she is redirected to the Troubleshoot Registration report for this BGMT 230 section. Here, Bella finds that she cannot enroll in this section because there is a hold on her account.
