Executive Director of Enrollment Management & University Registrar

As Executive Director of Enrollment Management & University Registrar, Adrian Cornelius oversees the Office of the University Registrar and the Office of Assessment & Technology in Enrollment Management. Adrian has been a higher education scholar, practitioner, and teacher for over 30 years, and began his role at UMD in 2011. 

As a proven enrollment management, student services, and student success leader, Adrian is dedicated to purposeful engagement in optimized communications and strategic support of student recruitment, retention, progression, and success. Adrian enjoys collaborating with stakeholders to promote a supportive learning environment, positive educational experiences for students, meaningful professional development and advancement for teams, and the furtherance of institutional values. 

Adrian's higher education experience includes being heavily involved in two successful student information system implementations, leading business process innovations, and implementing value added technology (recruitment, communications, engagement, events, scholarship, curriculum management, degree audits, course and classroom scheduling, catalog production, student success, etc.). He currently chairs the UMD TerpEngage Executive Steering Council, which governs Salesforce implementation and management at the university and is advisory to the Provost and the CIO. As someone who oversees enrollment management technology and who remains on the cutting edge of educational technology, Adrian embraces the opportunity to be involved in innovating optimized services for students.

Adrian has a bachelor's degree in Education from Universidad de Oriente in Venezuela and a master's degree in Higher Education from Baruch College of the City University of New York. He also obtained a master's degree in Educational Leadership and a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University. Dr. Cornelius' dissertation was awarded outstanding dissertation for the year 2012 by the International Society for Educational Planning, and he is privileged to sit of the advisory boards of Parchment (an Instructure company) and HighPoint Technology Solutions, two leading higher education student support services technology providers.
