Alisa Abadinsky joined the University of Maryland as Associate Controller, Financial Services in 2016 with 25 years of public and private higher education institution experience. She served as the Assistant Vice President of Student Financial and Registration Services at Drexel University with oversight of the Offices of the Bursar, Financial Aid, and Drexel Central, the University’s one-stop student service center. Alisa spent 20 years at the University of Illinois, most recently as Director of Student Financial Services for the system with responsibility for accounts receivable, campus- based student loans, collections, and financial literacy. She has been an active participant in the higher education community having served as the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Student Financial Services Council Chair, President of the Coalition of Higher Education Assistance Organizations (COHEAO) and on the Board of Directors of the National Student Clearinghouse. She has been a frequent speaker at national conferences on topics related to student loans, higher education legislation and regulations, accounts receivable management, student service and financial literacy. Alisa holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and American institutions from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
