Important Guidance for Costing Allocations

Payroll Accounting

Home Articles Important Guidance for Costing Allocations

Entering correct and complete Costing Allocations is a critical component to ensuring employee salaries and benefits are charged to the appropriate worktags and funding sources.

Costing allocations:

  • are required for each employee/position
  • can not have overlapping start/end dates
  • can not have any gaps between start/end dates
  • Current period costing allocations should not be deleted when new allocations are being added.

We’ve developed improved guidance (Guide to Costing Allocations in Workday) to help ensure this critical activity is executed accurately. This guide includes specific considerations and requirements, example scenarios, common errors, and how to execute adjustments and reconciliation.

Improvements to the Assign Costing Allocations job aid to incorporate this improved guidance are forthcoming in the next week.
