As of this month, Elevate has reached a major milestone: signoff from our business owners on the design of all 19 Workday modules. This signoff represents a tremendous amount of work from our HCM, Finance, and Budget functional teams to document the Workday design, review with business owners, and incorporate their feedback. The Elevate team will now begin working on building test scenarios, based on the agreed-upon design, for the End-to-End testing effort, kicking off in July 2022.

The Elevate Program team recognizes the amount of time and effort that our business owners and their teams invested in the sign off process. The input and feedback we continue to receive from our stakeholders is essential to the success of the Workday implementation.

In our continued pursuit of feedback, we are currently conducting our second Elevate Program Assessment. As an employee, you are invited to share valuable input by completing a survey (link below)  designed to provide the Elevate Program with insight into your experience with Elevate, as well as to understand your current level of readiness for the Workday Go Live in July 2023.

Access the Survey

The survey will be available through Friday, June 3. By providing your insights, you will help our team identify risk areas and develop plans to drive toward a successful adoption of the new Workday system. This survey is confidential, and no names will be associated with the responses, so please be candid.

Our Next Functional Overview: The Wonders of Worktags

June 23, 2022
11:00 a.m.

This 45-minute session will introduce the concept of worktags, a key feature of Workday’s finance system that will help you understand the new “chart of accounts” in Workday. The Elevate Program will share the benefits of worktags, share some examples of financial worktags, and demonstrate how to easily search for the right worktag.

  • All new hire information is in the same system
  • No more re-entering data
  • Enhanced communication between Hire & Onboarding roles
  • Access to historical archive of Hire & Onboarding communication and activities
  • Easier processing for transfers across entities (UMCP, UMES, USMO, UMCES)

You can learn more about the onboarding process in Workday by watching this demonstration: Complete Onboarding Setup as a Manager for Your New Hire.

ElevateR Spotlight

The Elevate Program is thrilled to have a team of 49 full-time employees that have a wide breadth of experience and institutional knowledge. In each issue of the ElevateR, we will shine the spotlight on a staff member who is working hard to make our project a success.

Trina Tanner comes to Elevate with 25 years of experience in higher education at various universities. Before Elevate, her most recent position was in the VP of Finance as the Assistant Controller for General Accounting. As a CPA, Trina’s focus was bi-annual financial statements, audit, and day-to-day general ledger operations. She is no stranger to new system implementations, and was a subject matter expert for various modules of the Kuali Financial System. “I am excited about being on the ground floor of the project and working more intimately with campus stakeholders,” says Trina. If Trina wasn’t an accountant, she swears she would be on Broadway.
