Workday Releases

Bi-annual Workday releases are pivotal in enhancing the functionality, security, and user experience of our Workday platform. Each release brings a host of new features, improvements, and fixes designed to optimize our organizational processes. The ERP Services team is responsible for ensuring that everyone is aware of the upcoming enhancements and can leverage these new features.

About the Bi-Annual Release

Workday operates on a bi-annual release schedule, with updates occurring twice a year, typically in March and September. This regular cadence allows us to plan and prepare for changes in advance, ensuring that our systems remain up-to-date with the latest innovations and improvements.

Workday has a running list of updates to be released, most of which are rolled out during the bi-annual releases in March or September. Some features are automatically deployed and others are optional. Additionally, there are occasionally some features that require support from consultants to implement. 

Before each release, the ERP Services reviews and assesses the list of items included and begins the in-depth work of preparing for the release. Every bi-annual release requires the ERP Services team - and in some cases, business unit users - to conduct regression testing, release testing, communications, and training updates. 
 

What to Expect: 2025 Spring Release

Workday will release the new features the evening of March 14 during the regular Friday evening maintenance window and it will be available on March 15.

Human Capital Management

Supervisory Organization Editable on the Change Job Business Process

You will be able to edit the Supervisory Organization field in the Change Job business process so that you can select the correct subordinate organization when transferring workers to a new manager.

Change Job - New User Experience for Corrections

There will be a simplified user interface in the Change Job business process when you correct a Change Job event.

Enhanced Offboarding Resignation User Experience

There are improvements to the resignation experience. The system will now provide employees with field level guidance as they complete their resignation through self-service and without the need for additional support.
 

Hire Employee Task Redesign

Workday will have a more intuitive and modern layout for the Hire Employee task. This is intended to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Candidate Home Usability Enhancements

The Candidate Home interface has been updated to improve the user experience for candidates completing disability status and government ID tasks.

New Absence Calendar

There will be a new and improved user-friendly calendar experience when requesting, cancelling, or correcting absences.

New Look for Request Compensation Change

Workday introduces enhancements to the manager experience for the Request Compensation Change business process.

Finance

Manually Close and Reopen Requisition Lines

Buyers can close individual requisition lines while keeping the partially sourced requisition open. You can now also reopen closed lines manually. This will provide you with more flexibility with requisition sourcing, as well as reduce overhead created by managing requisition lines that don’t need to be sourced.

Assign Costing Allocation Redesign

Updates to the layout of the Assign Costing Allocation task will streamline the user experience of adding and removing proposed costing allocations and simplify the workflows for revising, approving, and reviewing costing allocation changes for workers.

Supplier Invoice Work Area Improvements

There are various enhancements to the Supplier Invoice Work Area that improve usability of columns, search criteria, button appearance, and labeling. These enhancements will enable you to work more efficiently when you open, edit, create, save, and submit supplier invoices and supplier invoice adjustments, among other tasks.
