Transfer Credit in Workday
Please note: this webpage is intended for learning purposes only and is designed to demonstrate Workday functionality. It does not represent UMD’s final decisions in using Transfer Credit in Workday.
This concept page describes the Transfer Credit as found in Workday Student.
Transfer Credit in Workday Student is credit earned at another institution or from a test that is reflected in the system. Workday’s transfer credit articulation helps match external credit to an institution’s equivalent.
Note: Transfer credit in Workday is not always applied toward a student’s academic progress.
Types of Transfer Credit
Transfer Credit in Workday can come from two different sources:
- Educational Institutions - Credit that originates from coursework taken at an external institution.
- Education Tests - Credit earned through a test, such as AP or IB.
ViewingTransfer Credit
Students can view transfer credit via the Transfer Credit profile card in Workday. This tab shows how credit has been articulated through the following details:
- Transfer Credit - The equivalent course or credit earned.
- Credits - The number of credits earned from each transfer credit.
- Grade - The grade earned for each transfer credit.
- Originating Coursework - The original coursework from the external institution.
- Transfer Credit Reason - Any additional context that applies to each transfer credit.
Transfer credit can also be viewed on the Academic Progress Report (APR), where any transfer credit applied to an academic requirement is clearly labeled.
On the Academic History profile card, transfer credit will appear in a few locations. Credit tied to a specific academic period appears within that period's coursework (e.g. Fall 2023), while credit earned before enrolling appears in the Pre-Enrollment Period coursework at the bottom of the page.
Example:
Meet Maria.
Maria previously took an Introduction to Psychology course at her past institution. When she transfers in as a Psychology major, that course is recognized as the equivalent of PSYC 100 – Introduction to Psychology at her new institution. On her Academic Progress Report, Maria can see the PSYC 100 credit has been applied and is counting toward her Psychology degree requirements.
Maria can also open the Transfer Credit or Academic History cards in the Academics profile group of her Student profile for a complete view of her transfer credit.
Key Takeaways
Where can I locate my transfer credit?
