What training is now available?

  • On-demand courses are courses that provide information about Workday and how to complete key tasks. These courses can include demo recordings and ‘Try It’ simulations.
  • Job aids are simple, clear instructions on how to initiate a task. The most up-to-date job aids are available anytime for all users.
  • Learning Hubs on the Elevate website organize training content into easy-to-access areas based on functional area. Learning Hubs will contain the links to access job aids.

If you are a Central Office user, you may have training in addition to the on-demand courses. Learn more on the Training for Central Office page.

How do I know which courses to take?

All users should take the Introduction to Workday on-demand computer-based training course. This course introduces you to Workday and its core concepts including the worker profile, business processes, and security roles. You will learn how to navigate within Workday, access your information, and complete tasks.

If you’re a typical user, this might be the only course to take.

Other users have greater access based on their security roles in the system. For the large majority of these users, you have access to self-enroll in prerequisite and role-specific on-demand computer-based training courses. You can take these courses at any time, at your own pace, and can retake courses as needed.

This graphic shows that you must take Introduction to Workday first. If you have a HCM or Finance-related security role, you have prerequisite and role-specific courses to take. If you are a typical user who doesn't have additional roles, then you're done!

HCM users will take Finding and Viewing Reports in Workday and HCM Core Concepts as prerequisite courses. Finance users will take Using Worktags and Finding and Viewing Reports in Workday as prerequisite courses.

There may be an order to take your role-specific courses. We advise you take the courses in the same order as presented on the On-Demand Courses page. An example of a curriculum order can be found on the HR Analyst Training page.

Is training mandatory?

The Elevate program recommends that you take courses based on your security role(s) within Workday. Taking your recommended training courses is strongly encouraged and completion data is tracked. For some security roles, specific business owners might have mandatory requirements for select courses. These business owners will communicate any additional training requirements if they apply to you.
